Payment Flow — What Happens When You Send USDC

①You enter recipient address and amount in the Send form

②ArcLance calls the USDC smart contract's transfer(to, amount) function

③Your wallet (MetaMask/Rabby) signs the transaction — you approve it

Why Arc Network?

Arc Network is a stablecoin-native EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain built and maintained by the Arc team. Unlike Ethereum (where gas is paid in ETH) or other L2s (where you need the native token), Arc pays all gas fees in USDC — making it ideal for freelancers who only hold stablecoins and don't want to buy volatile crypto tokens just to pay transaction fees.

How it works: ArcLance uses the EIP-6963 standard to detect all installed wallets automatically. When you click CONNECT, all available wallets appear in the modal. ArcLance never stores your private key or seed phrase — your wallet extension handles all signing locally.

Adding Arc Network

You need to add Arc Testnet to your wallet before you can use ArcLance. Here are the exact steps for MetaMask.

Step-by-Step (MetaMask)

1. Open MetaMask extension → Click the network name at the top (usually "Ethereum Mainnet")
2. Click Add Network at the bottom of the dropdown
3. Click Add a network manually
4. Copy and paste each value from the table above exactly
5. Click Save → MetaMask will switch to Arc Testnet automatically
6. You should now see Arc Testnet selected and your USDC balance

How to Swap

1. Go to Swap in the sidebar
2. Select the token you want to give (YOU PAY)
3. Enter the amount — or use 25/50/75/MAX buttons
4. Select the token you want to receive (YOU RECEIVE)
5. Set slippage tolerance: 0.1% recommended for stablecoin pairs
6. Review the rate and click ⇄ SWAP TOKENS
7. Confirm in your wallet

💡 Slippage: 0.1% is enough for stablecoin-to-stablecoin swaps since prices are pegged. Use 0.5% or higher only if swaps are failing. The ⇅ flip button lets you instantly reverse the swap direction.

What is CCTP?

Circle Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) is Circle's official bridge for moving USDC between blockchains. It works by burning USDC on the source chain and minting fresh USDC on the destination — no wrapped tokens, no custodial risk. This is the most secure way to bridge USDC.

Do I need ETH to pay gas fees?

No. Arc Network's gas is paid in USDC — you never need to buy ETH or any other volatile token.

Is this real money?

ArcLance currently runs on Arc Testnet. All USDC is test USDC with no real value. Mainnet is planned for a future release.

What is USDC?

USDC is a regulated stablecoin issued by Circle (US-regulated). 1 USDC = $1.00 USD always. Backed by cash and US Treasuries, audited monthly by Deloitte.

My client doesn't know crypto. Can they pay me?

Yes — they'll need MetaMask and USDC (one-time setup, ~15 minutes). Share the AI Assistant with them for guidance. Future versions will include a dedicated client onboarding flow.

Swap vs Bridge — what's the difference?

Swap = exchange token A for token B on the same chain (USDC → EURC on Arc). Bridge = move token across chains (USDC from Arc → Ethereum).

Can ArcLance freeze my funds?

No. ArcLance is self-custodial — your money stays in your wallet. We never hold, access, or control your funds. Only your private key (in your wallet) can authorize transactions.

Is my wallet address public?

Yes — all blockchain transactions are publicly viewable on the block explorer (testnet.arcscan.app). This is normal for blockchains. Your name is not attached to your address unless you voluntarily share both.
